Thanks for this series. I too am skeptical of anyone who embraces MIC/IC figures who claim special UFO knowledge, and Pasulka has seemed to go all-in on these people with her appearances promoting this latest book.

The Ufo community today isn't looking for evidence or convincing the academic sciences to look into the phenomena or even government disclosure! No, at its core the UFO community is looking for a 'Savior' or 'Moses' It doesn't matter if its anal probe holding Grey or if it's retired Counterintelligence officer that spent decades tricking the UFO community itself. . No, no that doesn't matter. As long as he or she leads them out of ignorance.

Thank you for digging into these overlapping stories, I find them to be the most interesting element of modern ufology, far more than the ‘disclosure’ efforts of the three letter agency alumni cartel that so many are so quick to immediately believe.

A thought I have about Pasulka and Taylor is wondering if the admiration and fascination went too far. Maybe this is way off base, but did she change her name to her maiden name? Could the falling out be something more personal? 🍯

Cheers, looking forward to more.

I do find their closeness uneasy at points, but I wouldn't want to speculate on the super personal stuff without evidence. Perpetually feels like some important context is missing, but that's the most I'd say on that. I guess it's same old same old ufology in that way.

I think that’s wise and well said. I was surprised to read that DWP identified as agnostic as she had always been Catholic. A change in beliefs like that is a significant life event.

On a more recent interview she gave, not sure which one, the host commented with a story about a uniformed recovery team arriving at a reported crash event. The team’s unit patch was a graphic of the Archangel Micheal. She hadn’t heard the story before and I couldn’t find more. Who knows, might’ve just originated with the host in the moment, but if there’s more its fascinating.

When I enrolled in Pasulka’s Women in Christianity course in the spring, the webpage with the course description had her last name as something else, and it was just Diana (last name) and it wasn’t Walsh. I was puzzled by it, and checked it again once or twice. I figured she was going through a divorce but wanted to keep a low profile, but I haven’t heard anything else about it. Edit to add that the last name was Heath.

Reading American Cosmic a few years back, alongside a reread of Project Beta and Passport to Magonia, was a real landmark in my returning to the UFO subject with some earnestness.. As someone with an interest in Catholic theology I had previously read Pasulka's work on Purgatory which was clear eyed and entertaining.

I've always felt that religious studies generally and Catholicism especially provide really rich lenses through which to view general phenomena of "High Strangeness", bringing with them an in built framework for navigating the numinous and a tradition of encountering the Weird in a mystical way. The overlap between Marian apparition experiences and the phenomenology of UFO sightings is such a rich seam to mine in understanding whatever small portion of these things may not just be the Aviary and AFOSI pals up to their old japes.

This is all to say why I probably am so disappointed at Dr Pasulka's credulity here. Coming from such a rich framework for analysing this phenomena and she still places all this stock in supposedly alphabet soup agency sources. These days I feel like I'm worshipping at the Chapel Perilious and at every turn I find out someone I thought had a good head on their shoulders on these strange subjects is getting seed money from In-Q-Tel and retweets Viktor Orban on the daily.

You are the exception Tanner! A thorough going and intelligent analysis as ever. Keep it coming.

Great summary!

One of my favourite Pasulka moments was when she was being iv by maybe Lex Fridman?.He said words to the effect of"can you tell us more about the information you have found that you made you fear for your safety"...Pasulka says she doesnt remember.Fridman plays back the video of her saying it.Pasulka still draws a blank.....because thats what you do if you find information that makes you fear for your safety..you just forget it....Pasulka comes across as a new age airhead.I find it odd that she has risen to become a Professor of anything...
